Justin’s Trailer of the Week – God Bless America

First thought after seeing this trailer?  If something like this happened in real life, the sensational hungry society we have become would eat it up and turn it into a meme before this gunman ever saw the inside of a jail cell.  Irony much?

I have a feeling this is going to be one of those thought provoking movies that 90% of the audience will miss the point of.  An example of the audience not getting the message is the movie Higher Learning, starring Omar Epps and Kristy Swanson.  Go see the film.  If you come out of that movie pro one ethnic group over another, I think you missed the point.  Which I am guessing a lot of people will come out of this movie having missed some greater point that Bobcat Goldthwait will be trying to get across.

Who won’t watch this movie and think, “Man, there are a lot of people I wouldn’t mind punishing with extreme prejudice!”  We are an angry species, I get that.  And I think the producers of this film want to tap into that just a bit.   If that is the level you want to watch movies at, I can’t blame you.  Movies should be escapism entertainment, but I think that the culture that this film is trying to comment on will make this into something it isn’t:  another thing to blame our problems on and not the mirror that forces us to look inwards and consider we might each be a part of the problem.

God Bless America looks like one of those dark comedies that I will just love and hopefully think on, if the material is as good as the trailer makes it look.

I give this trailer 3 Caps out of 5 Asses.
